leonidas - fresh belgian chocolates

one of my resolutions for 2009 is to be a fantastic gift giver. having had two babies in quick succession, i have received so many gifts these past two years and it has really taught me just how much one values a gift from a loved one no matter how small or big. so this year i'll also be blogging about gift ideas and the shops where you can buy interesting and exquisite gifts in bombay.

my current favourite for gifting is chocolates. not just any ordinary chocolates but the freshest chocolates flown in from belgium. pralines, truffles, marzipan, candied almonds and plenty of other that will send you directly to sweet heaven.

leonidas, the famous belgian brand, opened its only Indian store at kemps corner in bombay since july 2008. i visited the store and was super impressed with the full range of chocolates available in india. i was particularly excited to see my favourite orangettes available. orangettes are candied orange peel sticks dipped in bittersweet chocolate. i first fell in love with them in barcelona and am delighted that they are available in bombay now.

chocolates at leonidas are sold by the 100g and it's roughly four hundred and fifty rupees for hundred grams. expensive surely but totally worth it for your loved ones.

Leonidas is like a 5 min walk from my place, though i still haven't ventured in.

sounds very Godiva in terms of price.

I know they are expensive, but I just can't resist them. Got myself a huge stash last trip to NY so am living off that one right now.

Just adore orangettes, but my biggest love of the moment is Leonidas pearls - pearl sized dark chocolate that comes in a little can.

Please try them the one next to my office in NY is absolutely amazing. Does the Indian location serve coffee and other beverages as well? Their hot chocolate is to die for.
